Staging a spectacular event is a feat in itself.

Orchestrating events in multiple locations, at the same time, can be challenging but not impossible. But taking corporate events on the road is an invaluable way to connect with customers and colleagues. Here, event experts offer insights for putting events on the move.

The Verizon Excellence Awards honor extraordinary achievements with catchy themes each year. To each year’s theme, they added memorable visual representations of themed decor. Magee then managed internet sites, marketing, and special newsletters dedicated to the program. He introduced signature posters, flyers as well as promotional materials. Magee then helped to re-design and enhance the online application tool for submission of VEA nominations. As a result, more than 6,000 nominations were received, which was a 100 percent increase of previous years.

Next Magee and his team began the arduous process of designing and executing 32 events that were exactly alike. A logistical landmine at times, Magee successfully secured identical decor, floral, lighting, entertainment, and audio-visual for each of the events.

Featured at Special Events

Telecommunications giant Verizon appreciates its employees and shows that appreciation with its Verizon Excellence Awards, an annual program honoring employees' extraordinary achievements. For three weeks in March, New York-based Empire Force Events helped Verizon recognize some 8,000 employees by staging 10 gala dinners in cities stretching from New York to Los Angeles, each event virtually identical to the next. Consistency in the events matters, says Verizon senior manager for strategic programs and events Dion Magee, so that no employee feels slighted.

Corporate Planer of The Year, Special Events Magazine

In recognition of Mr. Magee’s contribution to the industry, he was voted Corporate Planner of the Year by Event Solutions Magazine and Young and Inspiring Event Professional in Industry, 2005 by Special Events Magazine.
